Cookies
Overgewicht Nederland does not place tracking or advertising cookies, nor cookies for visitor statistics. Only if you play a video yourself or use an external service may that service store something. On this page you can read exactly what happens and what you can set yourself.
What are cookies?
A cookie is a small text file that a website places on your computer, tablet or phone. Some cookies are needed to make a site work. Others track what you do, sometimes even across different websites, for example for advertising. For that last kind, a website must first ask for your consent. Besides cookies, there are similar techniques, such as local storage in your browser and tracking pixels. Where we write "cookies" below, we also mean those techniques.
Which cookies this site uses
| Type | Do we use it? | Explanation |
|---|---|---|
| Functional cookies | Only where necessary | To make the site and forms work properly, for example to prevent spam. No consent is needed for this. |
| Analytics cookies | No | If we measure visitor numbers, we do so without cookies and without data that could identify you. |
| Tracking and advertising cookies | No | No pixels from Meta, TikTok or other advertising services. We do not follow you across other sites. |
| YouTube cookies | Only after you click | Videos only load when you click play, via youtube-nocookie.com. |
The BMI calculator and the "am I eligible" questionnaire do not use cookies. They only calculate in your own browser and store nothing. If you are a site administrator and log in, the site's system sets cookies to keep you logged in. This does not apply to ordinary visitors.
Videos and external services
YouTube. Several pages contain videos, such as the "Ask the doctor" livestream. As long as you do not click play, your browser does not connect to YouTube. If you do click, the video loads via youtube-nocookie.com. YouTube (Google) may then store or read data in line with its own cookie and privacy policy. If you do not want that, do not click play. You can also watch the video directly on YouTube via the link below the video.
WhatsApp and Calendly. If you click the WhatsApp button or the appointment link for healthcare professionals, you go to the WhatsApp or Calendly service. The cookie and privacy rules of those services apply there, not ours.
Links to other sites. We link to sources such as the NHG, the Dutch Health Care Institute (Zorginstituut Nederland) and ZorgkaartNederland. If you go there, that site decides which cookies it places.
Because we do not place any cookies that require consent, you will not see a cookie banner on our site. If we start doing so in the future, we will ask for your consent first and update this page.
Managing cookies yourself
You can set in your browser which cookies you allow and delete existing cookies. Look in your browser settings under "Privacy" or "Cookies". If you block all cookies, this site will still work normally. Only YouTube videos may not play.
