We do not give personal medical advice via WhatsApp, phone or email. For questions about your health, go to your GP (huisarts).
For GPs, practice nurses (POH), care groups and partners: book an introductory meeting or request a training session.
We do not have a visiting address. Overgewicht Nederland works for the whole of the Netherlands and does not receive visitors. We try to respond within two working days. If you send a WhatsApp message, briefly mention what your question is about: the site, an information evening, a download or an error. That way we can help you more quickly. No medical advice via WhatsApp or email
We sometimes get questions such as "Am I eligible?" or "Which medicine is right for me?". These questions are understandable, but we cannot answer them properly. We do not know your situation and we are not doctors. That is why a medical question gets a standard reply: we kindly refer you to your GP (huisarts) or practice nurse (POH). So please do not send us your weight, diagnosis or medicines either. We do not store any health data.
There is something you can do yourself in the meantime, though. With the calculator to calculate your BMI you can see which group you fall into. The calculator only works in your browser and does not store anything. With that result and our tips, you can prepare for the conversation with your GP about your weight.
Is it urgent? If life is in danger, call 112. Outside office hours, you can go to the out-of-hours GP service (huisartsenpost) with urgent medical questions.
For GPs, practice nurses and partners
Are you a GP, practice nurse (POH) or practice manager, or do you work for a care group? Then you can book a 30-minute online appointment with publisher Gijs Bodenstaff. For example about the materials for your practice, an information evening in your region or collaboration. These appointments are only for healthcare providers and partners, not for patients.

Report an error
Spotted a figure that is incorrect, an outdated waiting time or a broken link? Let us know via WhatsApp or email. Mention the page, what you think should be different and, if you have one, a source. Can I ask via WhatsApp whether I am eligible for surgery?
No, we do not give personal medical advice via WhatsApp. If you ask a question like that, you will receive a standard reply referring you to your GP (huisarts). What you can do: read the general criteria in am I eligible for weight loss surgery and take them with you to your appointment.
How quickly will I get a reply?
We try to reply within two working days, via the same channel you used to contact us. At busy times, for example around an information evening, it may take a little longer. For urgent medical questions, do not wait for us: call your GP (huisarts), the out-of-hours GP service (huisartsenpost) or, if life is in danger, 112.
Can I visit your office?
No, Overgewicht Nederland has no visiting address and does not receive visitors. We work for the whole of the Netherlands, online and on location during information evenings. If you would like to speak to someone in person, come to one of the free information evenings near you.
Who is the online appointment intended for?
The 30-minute online appointment is only for GPs, practice nurses (POH), practice managers, care groups and partners. You might discuss materials, an information evening or collaboration, for example. Patients can reach us via WhatsApp or email. What happens to my message?
We only use your message to answer your question. We do not share it with clinics, not even with our partner. We do not keep messages longer than necessary. Exactly how long, and what rights you have, is explained in the privacy statement of Overgewicht Nederland.
Can I report an error on the site?
Yes, please do. Send us the page via WhatsApp or email, what is wrong and, if possible, a source. We will look at it within a week and amend the text if it is an error. For a major correction, we note it at the bottom of the page, as described in the site's editorial policy.
