According to getwellis.com, a conversation is possible but optional: you decide whether to schedule it, and it is then with a healthcare professional. For people who would rather not phone and know exactly what they want, that is convenient.

At Overgewicht Nederland, the conversation is a standard part of the start. According to the provider, you do the intake with a doctor by phone or video call, and medication is only prescribed after that assessment. The /afvalprogramma/ page states that you decide together with Dr Aarts which method is suitable. Besides Dr Edo Aarts, the doctors page lists two doctors with a BIG number: Azzeddine el Osrouti and Sani Cosgun.

Why would that conversation matter? The NHG guideline (NHG-Standaard, October 2025) advises an obesity medicine only after a year of combined lifestyle intervention (GLI) with too little result, and mentions a stopping rule for less than 5% weight loss after 12 weeks on the highest dose. According to the provider's own comparison (last reviewed 27-06-2026), you get 400 minutes of 1-to-1 coaching, contact every two weeks and an app. According to the provider, the team is trained in PCOS and in supporting people on GLP-1 medication. According to the provider's homepage, the intake and coaching take place by phone or video call; you agree the details in the introductory meeting.

At Wellis, the weight loss route centres on prescription medication, supplemented with advice. getwellis.com does not mention a clinic or measurement location.

Overgewicht Nederland B.V. has several routes under one roof. You can choose support with lifestyle as the basis, medication as an injection pen or pill, or the Allurion gastric balloon through the Allurion Kliniek, which also belongs to Overgewicht Nederland B.V. That works out at €22.99 per day over the 6 months of coaching. The balloon is a capsule that you swallow and that deflates by itself after 16 weeks; the clinic quotes a price of €4,195 and health insurance does not cover it. Measurements are part of it too. In Amersfoort you can have a measurement of your resting metabolism and an InBody body composition analysis. An InBody is mainly useful for tracking your own progress, measured under the same conditions. According to /kosten/, the 15-month research programme includes three blood tests and two measurements of your resting metabolism.

Costs and payment method

There are no prices on the Wellis homepage (reference date 22-10-2026). So you only find out what a treatment costs further along in the process. Ask beforehand which costs are fixed and whether there is a subscription.

Per day, that works out at: €3.55. On /kosten/, Overgewicht Nederland states €1,295 for 12 months of support, which works out at about €108 per month. This includes the medical intake, a treatment plan, support from a doctor, lifestyle coaching and an evaluation. According to the costs page, you pay at the start; according to Overgewicht Nederland B.V. itself, you can also pay monthly by direct debit. You pay for medication separately. The research programme costs the same amount, but you then get 15 months of support.
